PIERRE, S.D. – For the first time in nearly a month, Meade County reported a new positive test for COVID-19.
The South Dakota Department of Health reported the case today, which is one of 53 other positive tests in the latest update.
Along with Meade County’s additional case, Pennington County reported 2 new positive tests giving the Black Hills area a total of 3 new cases today. Todd County also reported an additional 3 new positive tests today. The health department does not release where the positive tests locally are from.
Minnehaha reported the most cases today with 25 and 3 additional deaths were reported in that county as well. The health department didn’t release any details about the deaths, however on Monday, Good Samaritan officials confirmed six more residents have died at the Good Samaritan Society Village in Sioux Falls. A total of 13 residents have died at the village. All together 97 residents and staff members have tested positive. Many of those staff members have recovered and are now back at work.
The three new deaths were all females older than 80-years of age.
Active cases in South Dakota are now at 802, a decrease of 15 from Monday’s 817.
Recoveries reached 1,895, up 65 from Monday and there were more recoveries than new cases announced Tuesday.
Current hospitalizations are at 75, up six from Monday’s 69. Total cumulative hospitalizations are now at 220.
