State health department releases three days of numbers in Wednesday COVID-19 report

PIERRE, S.D. – The state health department reported 427 new cases of COVID-19 in their Wednesday report, which does include numbers from the three day weekend.

Active cases have dropped to 6,083 and the number of people hospitalized fell to 171.

Five new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,784.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 54 new cases, Lawrence County added 9 and Meade County had 20.

Elsewhere, Custer County had 11 new cases, Butte County totaled 9, Oglala Lakota County reported 18 and there was one new case out of Fall River County.
