PIERRE, S.D. — On Saturday, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 209 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 95,683.
38 of the 247 total cases are considered as new probable cases.
Health officials reported 12 South Dakota residents have died from coronavirus-related complications in their Saturday report. The state death toll is now 1,684.
Across West River counties, there were 75 confirmed cases: 44 in Pennington County, eight in Oglala Lakota County, five in Meade County, four in Lawrence County, three in Mellette County, two each in Custer, Dewey, Fall River, and Perkins Counties, and one each in Corson, Gregory, and Lyman Counties.
There were 10 new probable cases reported West River: two each in Fall River, Meade, and Todd Counties, and one each in Dewey, Lawrence, Oglala Lakota, and Ziebach Counties.
In South Dakota, 4,021 cases are considered active, that number is down from 4,090 on Friday.
Officials say 172 people are currently hospitalized. That too, is down from Friday.
