PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 785 new cases of COVID-19 in their Tuesday report. Of those 785, 65 are probable cases.
Active cases have surpassed 3,000 for the first time since January as the state reported 3,114.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have increased as well, as the state reported 141 today.
Pennington and Meade counties remain among the COVID-19 hot spots in the state. Pennington County reported 193 new cases with 8 of those probable, and Meade County added 82 new cases with one of those probable.
Lawrence County added 65 new cases and Butte County reported 21.
Elsewhere across the Black Hills area, Fall River County reported 18, Custer County reported 15 and Oglala Lakota County added 4.
Forty-four of South Dakota’s 66 counties are listed as having “high” community spread. “High” community spread is 100 cases or greater per 100,000 or a 10% or greater PCR test positivity rate.
