State records 58 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, one new death reported

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.

After a spike of 25 cases in Pennington County was reported Tuesday, the county had 6 in today’s release.

There are 143 active cases in Pennington – down 17 from Tuesday.

Elsewhere across the Black Hills area, Meade County reported one additional new case, giving them 7 active cases.

There was also a new death reported today – an individual out of Pennington  County in the 50-59 age group. It is Pennington County’s 24th COVID-19 related death. Statewide, there are now 119.

The active caseload statewide is 799 today, down 21 from yesterday.

The number of people hospitalized is 56 – that, too, is down from Tuesday’s 62.
