State reports 63 new COVID-19 cases in Saturday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 63 new positive tests for COVID-19 in its Saturday report.

Of the 63, there were 34 in Minnehaha County. There were no new cases reported in the Black Hills area.

The state cumulative total is now 2,588, however more recoveries were reported Saturday, sending the total number of active cases in the state down to 808.

There were no new deaths reported, so the state’s death toll remained at 21. Minnehaha, the state’s hardest hit county, has 16 of those deaths with 8 being reported over the last 48 hours.

As of Saturday, 71 people remain hospitalized due to COVID-19.
