STURGIS, S.D. – State health officials reported 195 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday along with an uptick in the number of people hospitalized.
The number of hospitalizations increased 23 today to 133. This is a new single-day high for South Dakota since the pandemic began.
Of the new cases in the Black Hills area, Pennington and Meade County accounted for the most – 27 and 13 respectively.
Pennington County saw their cumulative total go up to 1,841 with 318 active cases. The active caseload is down 8 today in Pennington.
In Meade County, the 13 new cases sends the cumulative total to 405 with 83 active. Active cases are down one today in Meade.
Other new cases around the Black Hills area today included one in Oglala Lakota County.
There were 52 cases total across West River Tuesday.
The statewide active number of cases is down 113 today to 2,386.
There were 957 new persons tested reported on Monday.
