State’s COVID-19 related deaths rise 34 in Wednesday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The Wednesday COVID-19 report indicated 34 new deaths, sending the state’s death toll since the pandemic began. Of the new deaths, 5 of them were reported out of Lawrence County, where the county’s death toll rose to 40. Pennington and Custer County also reported one new COVID-19 related death. In all, there were 24 men and 10 women included in today’s death toll.

As for new cases today, there were 230 total new cases with 63 of them listed as probable.

Active cases fell by 190 to 3,238 but the number of people hospitalized due to the virus was up 9 Wednesday to 161.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County recorded 23 new cases with 7 of them listed as probable.

Meade County added 3 new cases and Lawrence County had 4 new, confirmed cases today.

Butte and Fall River each added 3 new, confirmed cases, Oglala Lakota had 2 new confirmed cases and Custer had one new confirmed case and one probable case.
