STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis City Council this week approved passage of a Tax Increment Finance District in southwest Sturgis.
The council voted unanimously Monday to fund a portion of the street reconstruction and utility infrastructure costs of Katie Lane by establishing a TIF for Wheeler Heights Estates.
The area was annexed into the city as of the last council meeting and the vote will allow the city to proceed with developments.
The $11,000 project includes administration fees, financing fees, road grading and paving of Katie Lane. It also includes utility infrastructure developments, including the extension of sewer lines into the development.
Notices on the TIF have been sent to other taxing entities which include Meade County and the Meade 46-1 School District.
