STURGIS, S.D. – Sturgis Brown High School Speech and Debate team members placed 2nd at the Cheyenne Heart of the Rockies tournament that was held Nov 30 – Dec 3.

Some highlights included Martin Jones (11th grade) placing 1st in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Codi Rounds (10 grade) and Katie Sulzbach (12th grade) placing 1st in Duet, and Bono Buchtel (11th grade) placing 2nd in extemp.

As a result of these rankings, all of those students earned the opportunity to participate in the Tournament of Champions at Lexington KY in April.

Brian Lester and wife Alahna Gross of Mitchell, S.D., attend the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally regularly and stay at the same campground. It was there that Gross spotted the kids who were the subject of an Amber Alert first issued from Canada.
