Sturgis Council, sitting as Board of Adjustments, approves 90-day camper use permit for Sturgis Meats

STURGIS, S.D. – The Sturgis Council, sitting as a Board of Adjustments, on Monday night approved a 90-day camper use permit for Sturgis Meat Service to construct a fence in the back of their building and to secure their garbage.

In 2018, the then owner of Sturgis Meat Service, the Gapps, were given permission by the council for temporary office structure for no more than 3 years to allow them to expand to the existing business with office space.

Sturgis Building Inspector Dave Smith says recently, nine landowner permission forms went out and one was returned with denial due to condition of campers on the property and already not meeting codes.

Smith says he believes once the fence is complete, the campers would be removed.
