Sturgis ends season with playoff loss to Renner

RENNER, S.D. – The Sturgis Titans saw their season come to an end Tuesday with two losses to Renner in round one of the playoffs.

In game one, Sturgis jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Renner quickly scored 3 in the bottom half of the first to take a lead they would not relinquish.

After allowing the run in the first, pitcher Austin Henry kept Sturgis run-less the rest of the way as Renner cruised to an 11-1 win in five innings. Henry went all five innings and had 9 strikeouts.

Andrew Barr helped lead Renner with 2 hits and 2 R.B.I.’s. Sam Stukel added 3 R.B.I.’s for Renner.

Zach Hess led Sturgis with 2 hits.

In game two, Renner scored 2 hits in the third and fourth, 3 in the fifth and 2 in the seventh as they cruised to an 11-3 win.

Will Washenberger led Renner with 4 hits and 2 R.B.I.’s. Barr added 3 hits and 3 R.B.I.’s.

Reece Arbogast got the pitching win with 10 strikeouts.
