STURGIS, SD – The Sturgis Scoopers finished their 2023 football campaign with a winning record, with six wins and four losses. The Scoopers dropped their first round playoff game to the Tea Area Titans 39-13 but gained the respect of Class AA programs across the state with their dynamic offense and hard-nosed defense.
Three Scooper senior football players were selected by the South Dakota Football Coaches Association to play in the 2024 All-Star Game on June 8th at Dana Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings.
Scooper lineman Zac Juelfs, receiver and defensive back Gavin Sundstrom, and quarterback and defensive back Aiden Hedderman will play for the Red Team, and will be coached by Scooper head man Chris Koletzky, who was selected as assistant…
“Those three guys (Juelfs, Sundstrom, Hedderman) have really worked hard their whole career to prepare themselves to be leaders of our team,” Koletzky said. “This selection recognizes them as top players in the state and this is a special all-star game for me because I’ll be coaching the Red team on the offense, so it will be nice to work with those guys one last time.”
Hedderman and Juelfs earned all-state honors last season and Sundstrom was an all-conference selection in the Black Hills Conference. The three Scoopers report to the campus of South Dakota State University on June 6th in order to get in some practice before the All-Star game on June 8th.
