Thursday COVID-19 report – active cases surpass 14,000; thirteen new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – Active cases have surpassed 14,000 and thirteen new deaths were reported in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Health officials reported 2,183 new cases of the virus, with 407 of those considered as probable.

Active cases are at 14,355 and the number of people hospitalized is back up over 300 at 305.

The thirteen new deaths raise the state’s death toll to 2,520. One of the new deaths was out of Lawrence County.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 287 new cases with 45 of those listed as probable.

Lawrence County had 54 new cases and Meade County reported 44 new cases.

Elsewhere, Butte County tallied 12 new cases, Fall River County had 11, Custer County showed 8 and Oglala Lakota County added 30 new cases.
