Thursday’s COVID-19 Numbers – One new case in Pennington County

PIERRE, S.D. – The State Health Department reported 54 new COVID-19 cases in its Thursday report – and an additional case was reported in Pennington County.

The state total is now 447 with six deaths and 161 people have recovered from the virus.

The additional case in Pennington County brought their total to 7. The Health Department didn’t release any specific details of the new Pennington County case.

Minnehaha County continued to see a double-digit increase in cases with an additional 46 positive tests.

Along with Pennington and Minnehaha, new cases were reported in Brown, Corson, Hughes, Lincoln and Jerauld Counties.

In Minnehaha County, where there are now over 200 cases, the Smithfield Food Plant has become a hot spot.

The plant announced today it was closing for three days as essential employees perform a deep clean.
