Thursday’s COVID-19 report shows three new deaths; 23 new cases

PIERRE, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 were up a bit Thursday as state health officials reported 23 new cases with 2 of those considered as probable cases.

After dropping for the past several days, active cases of the virus saw a slight increase today to 230.

The number of people hospitalized was down by three to 35.

Three new deaths were reported today. The new deaths include two men and one woman in the 70-79 and 80-plus age range. The state’s death toll is now 2,026.

Across the Black Hills area, there were six total new cases. Pennington County had five of those cases and the other case was in Meade County.
