Titans Defeat Torrington Tigers

ALLIANCE, NE – Sturgis Post 33 took the lead late and defeated Torrington Tigers 18U 8-7 on Sunday, the final day of the Clair Conley baseball tournament.

The game was tied at five with the Titans batting in the top of the fifth when Conner Cruickshank doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Sam Kooima took the win for Sturgis. The pitcher allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out four. Cruickshank threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cruickshank recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Post 33.

Deagan Keith took the loss for the Torrington Tigers. Keith allowed four hits and three runs over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Adam Flohr, David Anderson, Owen Cass, Yaden Miller, Hunter Janzen, and Cruickshank each collected one hit for Sturgis Post 33. The Titans were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Torrington collected 13 hits on the day.

Sturgis finished the tournament with a 3-2 record and are in action next on Wednesday. The Titans travel to Chamberlain to play Sioux Falls East and Sioux Falls West.
