SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says three people are dead following a tragic crash in a construction zone 13 miles west of Sioux Falls.
The names of the persons involved in the Monday afternoon crash have not been released pending further investigation and notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 2014 Ram 3500 was traveling westbound on I-90 near mile marker 382. The Ram sideswiped multiple vehicles before crossing into the eastbound lane and crashing head on into the RV. Both vehicles were engulfed in fire destroying identifying features and documents.
Both lanes of traffic on I-90 in the vicinity of the crash scene were temporarily closed down and rerouted to alternate routes.
The driver of the 2014 Ram 3500 sustained fatal injuries.
The driver of the RV sustained fatal injuries. The passenger of the RV sustained fatal injuries.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
