STURGIS, S.D. – State health officials reported 436 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and no new deaths were reported.
The number of active cases dropped below eight-thousand today, as the state reported 7,627. The number of people hospitalized due to the virus dropped three Tuesday to 341.
Across West River, there were 143 new cases reported.
Pennington County added 70, Meade County had 10 and Lawrence County showed 8 new cases. Active cases in all three counties dropped today, and in Pennington County, active cases are below 1,000 for the first time since October.
Other new cases West River Tuesday included 17 n Dewey, 8 each in Custer and Oglala Lakota, 6 in Todd, 4 in Butte, 3 each in Fall River, Perkins and Gregory and one each in Corson, Jones and Tripp counties.
There were 1,278 new persons tested reported on Tuesday. Tuesday’s new person tested positivity rate is 34%.
