RAPID CITY, S.D. – Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish won the girls race of the Best of the West Cross Country meet at Hart Ranch Thursday.
VanDeest finished in a time of 19:25.01. Kira Ubence of Douglas finished in second.
Winning the boys race was Peyton Cast of Douglas in a time of 17:03.42. Finishing in second was Canyon Iszler of Rapid City Stevens.
Winning the boys team title was Douglas with Rapid City Stevens in second.
Spearfish won the girls team title with Rapid City Central placing second.

Meanwhile, the Region 5A Cross Country Meet was also ran Thursday at Hart Ranch.
Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche won the boys race in a time of 15:23 with Miles Ellman of Custer finishing in second.
Abby Cutler of Hill City won the girls race in a time of 18:45 with Kadense Dooley of Custer placing second.
Winning the boys team title was Custer with Belle Fourche second and Hill City third.
Winning the girls team title was Custer with Red Cloud second and Hill City third.
