GUNNISON, Colo. – Black Hills State football dropped its Saturday matchup with No. 14 Western Colorado, 35-20.
The Yellow Jackets (4-3, 3-2 RMAC) outpaced their ranked opponent in first downs (16) and passing yards (208).
Tanner Clarkson completed 18 of 40 passing attempts for 208 yards and a touchdown, which was a 50-yard pass to Cameron Goods.
That was Goods’ lone catch of the afternoon, as he also finished with 24 yards on the ground on four rushing attempts.
Meanwhile, in Golden, Colorado, the Colorado School of Mines got a 45-22 win over the SD Mines Hardrockers.

The top-ranked FCS team quickly took care of business with Gronowski and Isaiah Davis scoring on short touchdown runs for a 14-0 lead after one quarter.
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Will Leyland kicked a 41-yard field goal on the final play of the game and South Dakota escaped with a 34-31 victory over Youngstown State. South Dakota (5-1, 3-0 Missouri Valley Football Conference) pulled out the win after seeing all of a 21-point, second-half lead evaporate.
