CUSTER, S.D. – A weekend lightning strike is believed to have caused a wildfire in Custer State Park over the weekend.
The Limestone Fire was initially reported Saturday, burning in grass and timber two miles northeast of the park’s visitor center.
Great Plains Fire Dispatch reported Sunday the fire was at 13.4 acres.
A helicopter and air tanker helped state and federal ground crews battle the blaze.
No buildings were threatened.
