Weekly COVID-19 Report shows ten new deaths, increase in active cases

PIERRE, S.D. – In their weekly COVID-19 report, South Dakota health officials reported 719 new cases for the latest reporting period. The new cases cover October 19th through the 25th.

Active cases are up a bit to 533 while hospitalizations are down from 63 last week to 56 this week. The state reported 26 new hospitalizations during the latest reporting period.

Ten new deaths were reported, sending the state’s total to 3,059. Of the new deaths, one was out of Pennington County and another was out of Fall River County.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County saw 49 new cases this week, Lawrence County added 21 and Meade County had 20.

Elsewhere, Fall River County listed 14 new cases, Oglala Lakota County added 13, Butte County had 8 and there were 7 new cases reported out of Custer County.
