Woman arrested after hit and run, chase in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A hit and run Thursday ended up with the arrest of a Rapid City woman.

Police say they responded to a hit and run crash at the intersection of 5th and St. Patrick. The suspect vehicle left behind an important piece of information – the front license plate.

Police traced the vehicle to 29-year-old Maria Lopez and arrested her after a brief chase that ended in the 100 block of East Signal drive.

Lopez was arrested for third offense DUI, failure to stop for law enforcement, hit and run and a host of other charges.

No injuries were reported in the hit and run incident.
