Active cases down as 48 new COVID-19 positive tests reported in Tuesday DOH update

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Both the number of new cases and the active caseload are down today in the daily COVID-19 report from the South Dakota Department of Health.

The department says there 48 new cases statewide, with only two new cases being reported around the Black Hills area.

Pennington County had one of those new cases. The other was in Custer County.

Pennington County saw a decrease in the active number of cases today. The health department says there are 122 active cases, down 9 from Monday.

Meade County saw their active caseload decrease two to 9 and Lawrence County has just 2 active cases after a new recovery was reported today.

Oglala Lakota County’s active cases remained the same at 21.

The statewide active number of cases is 895 Tuesday, down 22 from Monday. There were 664 total test results reported on Monday.

The number of people hospitalized is 49, up two from Monday.

No new deaths were reported today, keeping the state’s death toll at 123.
