Fire crews battle wildfire in Hisega area

RAPID CITY, S.D. – Fire crews responded to a wildfire burning in the Hisega area Monday morning.

According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, the Log Porch Fire was burning to the northeast and was northwest of Hisega off Highway 44. Law enforcement were on scene helping with traffic control.

They were not anticipating any evacuations as of right now, but firefighters were expecting extreme fire danger with gusty winds this afternoon.

Fire crews reportedly have a line around the fire and stopped at approximately 6 acres.

Fire crews are working on mop up conditions ahead of the afternoon winds picking up.

The fire was initially reported around 8:46 a.m. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
