PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 36 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday with 6 of those new cases listed as probable.
Five new deaths were reported in the latest update, sending the state’s total since the pandemic began to 2,019. The new deaths included two women and three men with one of the deaths listed in the 30-39 age range. The other four were in the 70-plus age category.
Active cases are down to an even 300 and the number of people hospitalized was at 41.
Pennington County recorded 7 new cases with one of those listed as a probable case.
Meade County added 4 new cases while Butte County added 2 and Oglala Lakota County had one.
As for the vaccination effort across the state, as of Wednesday, 54.59% of the population 12-years-old and above has received at least one dose while 49.48% have completed the vaccination series.
