MILBANK, S.D. – Authorities in Milbank are investigating a homicide that happened Wednesday.
Milbank police were dispatched to a welfare check at a Milbank residence. Upon arriving at the residence, law enforcement discovered two deceased individuals inside with injuries consistent with homicidal violence.
One of the victims was later determined to be pregnant.
The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation was sent to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation. That investigation led to the arrest of 57-year-old Brent Hanson of Milbank.
Hanson was taken into custody on three charges of first degree murder and also three counts of second degree murder.
He remains in custody on a $5-million dollar cash-only bond.
Names of the victims have not been released.
