New cases of COVID-19 increase Tuesday with 212 reported

PIERRE, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 were up today as the state reported 212 new cases Tuesday. Of those, 45 are considered as probable.

The state’s active caseload was up slightly to 1,938 and the number of people hospitalized remained stable at 91. Total hospitalizations throughout the pandemic are at 6,548.

No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,863.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 33 new cases in Pennington  County, with 3 considered probable.

Meade County reported 5 new cases Tuesday and Lawrence County added 4.

Butte, Custer and Fall River County each reported one new case.

There were 883 new persons tested reported on Tuesday, for a new person-tested positivity rate of 24%.
