PIERRE, S.D. – The COVID-19 numbers in South Dakota continue to skyrocket, as the state reported 4,110 new cases Tuesday. Today’s report does include numbers from the weekend.
Active cases have now surpassed 20,000 to 20,475. The number of people hospitalized also increased today to 315.
No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 2,528.
Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 630 new cases with 64 of those listed as probable.
Meade County added 118 new cases with 4 of those probable and Lawrence County had 97 new cases with 2 of those listed as probable.
Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota County showed 48 new cases, Custer and Fall River County each had 24, Butte County added 8 new cases and Harding County had 2 new cases.
All of South Dakota’s 66 counties are listed as having “high” community spread. “High” community spread is 100 cases or greater per 100,000 or a 10% or greater PCR test positivity rate.
