RAPID CITY, S.D. – The man charged in connection with a homicide in Rapid City made his initial court appearance Tuesday.
Phillip Chips, 50, of Amsterdam, New York, is accused of fatally stabbing another man.
An autopsy indicated the victim died of a stab wound to the torso. His body was found in the 100 Block of Omaha Street in the grass near Rapid Creek on Friday.
Chips is being held in the Pennington County Jail in lieu of a one million dollar cash-only bond.
If convicted, he could face either the death penalty or life in prison.
