Rapid City fire crews respond to structure fire on Packer Place

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 700 block of Packer Place shortly after 6:30 Monday evening.

The home was partially involved when crews arrived on scene. First arriving units began attacking the blaze.

The Pennington County Cascade, manned by the Whispering Pines Volunteer Fire Department, was called in to help fill air pack bottles at the scene for firefighters.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters, but unfortunately 6 dogs didn’t survive the fire.

Crews got a quick knock down of the blaze and stayed on scene for an extensive overhaul.

Red Cross was notified to help the family that was displaced.

Responding units included Battalion 1, Truck 1, Truck 3, Squad 1, Engine 7, and Medic 7.
