State records 22 additional COVID-19 cases

PIERRE, S.D. – The number of COVID-19 positive tests in South Dakota hit 187 Friday – up 22 from Thursday’s 165.

All new cases were in eastern South Dakota.

That means Lawrence County remained at 9, Pennington at 6, Meade and Fall River Counties at 1.

Positive tests today were one each in Brown, Codington, Lincoln, Roberts, Turner and Yankton Counties and 15 new cases in Minnehaha County.

Minnehaha County has the state’s most cases with 68. Beadle County has 21, but the spread has slowed a bit there and 17 people have since recovered.

An additional 12 people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total to 69.

There were no new hospitalizations reported today and there were no additional deaths due to the virus being reported. The state has a total of two deaths so far.
