NEW UNDERWOOD, S.D. – The New Underwood Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of residential structure fire at 15740 Hammerquist Road in Caputa just after 2:00 p.m. Monday.
First arriving Firefighters found a free burning fire, with a moderate to heavy smoke condition, in the roof assembly of the residential section of the structure and immediately struck a second alarm.
Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the structure of origin, stopping the spread of the flames to adjacent structures, infrastructure and other improvements.
The structure received moderate damage.
No injuries to Firefighters, Civilians or domestic animals were reported,
The American Red Cross Serving Central and Western South Dakota is assisting the occupants.
