Tuesday COVID-19 Report shows decreasing active cases, hospitalizations

PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 545 new cases of COVID-19 in their Tuesday update. The report includes numbers from the weekend.

Active cases continue to decrease – falling to 20,824 Tuesday.

Hospitalizations due to the virus decreased by 28 today to 312.

Six new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,697. One of the new deaths was out of Pennington County where the death toll rises to 314.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 108 new cases, Lawrence County added 24 and there were 17 in Meade County.

Elsewhere, Butte County listed 11, Oglala Lakota added 24, Fall River County showed 6 and there were 5 new cases out of Custer County.
