PIERRE, S.D. – The State Department of Health reported two new deaths and 32 new positive tests for COVID-19 in its latest report Tuesday – bringing the total number of cases in the state to 320.
All new positive cases and deaths were in eastern South Dakota.
Another 25 cases were reported in Minnehaha County, bringing their total to 165. Lincoln County added another two cases to 27 and Brookings added 2 cases, sending them to a total of 6. The other new positive tests were in Codington and Lyman Counties.
State Epidemiologist, Dr. Josh Clayton, gives an update on the deaths.
“The update on the six deaths are 2 from Beadle County, 1 from McCook County, 2 from Minnehaha County and 1 from Pennington County. In the age groups, there are 2 people in their 50’s, one in their 60’s, one in their 70’s, one in their 80’s and one in their 90’s.”
The male from Pennington County, who was the state’s first death, actually passed away in Davison County.
There were no new hospitalizations reported today. The total number of hospitalizations so far is 23. So far, 98 people have recovered from the virus.
