STURGIS, S.D. – The 29th Annual Sturgis Festival of Trees takes place tonight at First Interstate Bank.
The social begins at 5:30 and the live auction begins at 6:30 p.m.
Brian Hencke is President of the Greater Sturgis Area Foundation and is helping to oversee the annual fundraising event which raises money for two local charities.
Last year, they raised about $50,000.
The event also raises money for the Sturgis Food Pantry with a $10 admission at the door and a new event this year. Hencke explains.
Hencke says they hope to raise around $2,000 playing the game and that money will also go to the food pantry. Along with other events that take place, Hencke hopes to raise around $6,000 total or the food pantry.
Hencke provided some numbers on this year’s number of trees and wreaths and live auction items.
