Box Elder fire crews respond to Tuesday morning structure fire

BOX ELDER, S.D. — Box Elder area firefighters responded to a structure fire Tuesday morning in the 300 block of Mule Deer Trail in Box Elder.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found a free burning fire with a moderate smoke conditions coming from the single story structure. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire and were able to contain it to the room of origin, stopping the spread of the flames to nearby structures, and holding the fire to a single alarm.

The two occupants of the structure are both accounted for, but the structure itself sustained some additional smoke and heat damage.

The American Red Cross Serving Central and Western South Dakota, the Black Hills Fire Chaplains Association, family and neighbors are assisting the occupant

No reports of injuries to firefighters, civilians or domestic animals were reported.
