RAPID CITY, S.D. – The man accused of threatening to shoot President Trump during the July 3rd Fireworks Show at Mount Rushmore appeard in court Wednesday.
Lucian Celestine, 29, made his initial court appearance on a charged of threatening the President and a charge of being in possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
Celestine is accused of threatening to hike to the top of the monument and shoot President Trump.
When Magistrate Judge Daneta Wollmann asked Celestine to enter a plea, he responded “I’m not going to enter a plea at this time but instead I want to challenge the court’s jurisdiction.”
Judge Wollmann entered a not guilty plea for Celestine.
If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison on the threat charge and up to 5 years on the firearm charge.
